Mindy Reger joined New York University as Assistant Director of Academic and Student-Athlete Support Services in August of 2019 and is now serving as Associate Director of Academic and Student-Athlete Support Services.

In this role, Mindy assists with managing operations of the Office of Student-Athlete Excellence (OSAE), which is responsible for providing administrative and educational support for the NYU Department of Athletics in four key areas: student-athlete academic support and recognition; eligibility compliance certification and rules education; recruitment and admissions support for coaches and prospective student-athletes; and student-athlete development/campus life.

Reger is responsible for working with the Violets’ men’s and women’s basketball teams, men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams, and the men’s and women’s soccer teams.

Prior to arriving at NYU, Reger served as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services at Boston University since January 2017. She provided academic support and aided in personal and professional development for the student-athletes participating on seven varsity teams. Reger also co-advised the department’s Athlete Ally chapter, led training and development for graduate assistants and assisted the Office of Athletic Compliance with eligibility review and certification.

Reger had served as an academic coordinator at Syracuse University beginning in July 2013. In addition to providing academic support to student-athletes on four varsity teams, she was also the department’s liaison with the Slutzker Center for International Services, The LGBT Resource Center, the Student Education and Prevention Team Against Sexual and Relationship Violence, and the campus-wide Advising Practitioners Forum. Reger was also selected to participate as a part of the Academic Integrity Policy Review Advisory Committee which worked to revise and update the campus-wide academic integrity policy.

Previously, Reger spent two years at the College of Charleston (2011-13) overseeing the academic support of six varsity teams as well as the Student-Athlete Advisory Board (more commonly known as SAAC) and its student-athlete development initiatives. Prior to that, she served as an intern in the Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence at Florida Atlantic University (2010-11) while completing her M.Ed. at the University of Washington. At FAU, Reger worked with a caseload of at-risk student-athletes, served as the textbook coordinator for the textbook program and as the contact for preferred walk-ons with the football program.

An active member within the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) since 2012, Reger served on its Board of Directors as Region I Director from 2020-22. She previously chaired the LGBTQA+ committee and has regularly presented at the national convention on supporting international student-athletes, allyship as a movement, using privilege to support marginalized identities, and the importance of using inclusive language in department publications, programming and communications.

A three-time graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute (New Practitioner track 2013, Leader/Manager track 2018 and Student-Athlete Development track 2021), Reger also presented at the NCAA Inclusion Forum in 2019 on the cultural differences that may impact international student-athletes. She also moderated an international student-athlete panel in a discussion about their experiences studying in the US.

A native of Flemington, NJ, Reger earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in both advertising and in entrepreneurship & emerging enterprises with a minor in music industry from Syracuse in 2006, where she was a member of the rowing team which won the Big East Conference Championship in 2003. Reger added a M.Ed. in intercollegiate athletic leadership from the University of Washington in 2011.
