Wagoner joined the NYU Athletics Department after four years of athletics communications work at institutions across New York City, most recently as the Athletics Communications Coordinator at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He managed the Bloodhounds’ Athletics Department social media accounts while creating photo, video and graphics content. He also helped promote various team successes on the department’s website and in collaboration with the College and the City University of New York system.

Prior to his time at John Jay, Wagoner served as the Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing for NCAA Division I St. Francis College in Brooklyn. As a member of the Terriers’ Athletic Communications staff, Wagoner spearheaded multiple social and digital media campaigns while overseeing content production and external communications for all 17 Division I athletic programs.

During his tenure, Wagoner facilitated and coordinated with local media outlets, such as the New York Times, ESPN, New York Post, News 12, and various regional and international publications. He also collaborated with the Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs and Community Partnerships in executing marketing plans to further promote the Terriers’ brand.

Before his foray into intercollegiate athletics, Wagoner worked as the Sports Director for Fox and ABC affiliates in Bangor, ME. He anchored nightly sportscasts and reported on high school athletics across eastern Maine, as well as the University of Maine, Husson University and other local institutions. Wagoner was promoted to Sports Director in 2020 after spending two years as a sports reporter and weekend anchor in Bangor.

Wagoner graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Carolina in May 2018. He worked as a student journalist covering the Gamecocks, including the women’s basketball team’s first appearance in the Final Four in 2015. He also interned for television stations in North and South Carolina.

A native of Greensboro, NC, Wagoner resides in Brooklyn, NY.
