Gina Antoniello began serving as Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for New York University's Athletic Department in September 2026, assuming a key institutional leadership role at the intersection of academics, athletics, and student-athlete development. In this capacity, she supports the academic and athletic missions of NYU, the University Athletic Association (UAA), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), while serving as an important liaison among university faculty, senior administration, and the Athletics Department.
Specifically, Antoniello helps advance initiatives designed to strengthen the student-athlete experience and support excellence across academics, varsity competition, leadership development, and campus life. Her work reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that student-athletes are positioned to succeed not only in competition, but also as scholars, leaders, and members of the university community. She also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport within the NYU School of Professional Studies, where she has taught since August 2020.
Antoniello is also the Founder and Director of the NYU Women's Sport Collective, an interdisciplinary initiative designed to center, elevate, and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of women across the sports industry. The Collective brings together students, faculty, alumni, and industry leaders to build community, expand mentorship and professional pathways, create meaningful industry engagement, and advance conversations around leadership, innovation, equity, and the continued growth of women's sport. Through programming, experiential opportunities, and strategic partnerships, Antoniello is helping position NYU as a destination for the next generation of leaders and changemakers shaping the future of women's sports.
A 2011 graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, Antoniello earned her Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Columbia University in 2013 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Troy University, where her research examines issues at the intersection of sport, athletes, organizations, and society.
Before joining NYU, Antoniello built a decade-long career in professional sports, developing expertise across athlete advocacy, gender equity, inclusive leadership, brand strategy, and organizational impact. She held leadership responsibilities spanning marketing and communications strategy, corporate social responsibility, and player development for globally
recognized NBA organizations including the Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets. Her professional and academic work has consistently focused on how sport organizations, athletes, and leaders can leverage their platforms to drive meaningful cultural and commercial impact.
Antoniello has also taught within NYU's executive education program with the National Football League (NFL), where she leads coursework focused on transformational change, organizational leadership, and the evolving sports business ecosystem. Drawing upon her experience across professional sport, higher education, athlete development, and industry innovation, she brings an interdisciplinary perspective to preparing current and future leaders to navigate—and shape—the rapidly changing global sports landscape.
