Dr. Neena Mathew has been New York University's Sport Psychologist since September 2023. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, IL in 2022. Originally earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from SUNY Old Westbury in 2016, she completed her post-doctoral training at NYU Counseling & Wellness Services, where she specialized in Eating Disorder Treatment.
Dr. Mathew gained specialized experience working with student-athletes at the University of Notre Dame’s University Counseling Center. Her work with student-athletes includes addressing sport performance concerns, body image, disordered eating, anxiety, perfectionism, athletic motivation, relational conflicts, adjustment concerns, identity concerns, academic distress, and other co-occurring mental health disorders.
Dr. Mathew’s therapeutic approach involves providing evidence-based treatments while creating a safe, non-judgmental space for students to openly explore and process their emotions, develop skills, and move toward effective change.
