Dillon Pottish, a former national champion player and an award-winning coach, began serving as head coach of New York University's men's and women's tennis teams in August 2026.
Bringing over a decade of elite collegiate coaching experience to the Violets' tennis programs, Pottish arrived at NYU after building an outstanding legacy as the Men's Head Tennis Coach at St. John's University from 2018 to 2026. Over an eight-year tenure, his teams compiled a 150-36 overall record and advanced to the BIG EAST Championship Finals every season.
Pottish earned BIG EAST Coach of the Year honors four times (2019, 2023, 2025, and 2026) while leading the Red Storm to four BIG EAST Conference Championships. Under his leadership, the program secured three #1 seeds in the conference tournament and earned three NCAA Tournament berths.
A proven developer of elite talent, Pottish coached three BIG EAST Players of the Year: Andrei Crapcenco (2019), Diogo Marques (2023), and Radomir Tomic (2026). He also mentored Aditya Vashista to an ITA ranking of #40, marking the highest singles ranking in St. John's program history.
Before his transformative run at St. John's, Pottish served as the Women's Assistant Tennis Coach at Columbia University during the 2017-18 season. There, he landed the #3 ranked recruiting class in the nation—the highest in program history—and helped lead the Lions to a 12-8 record, a #3 Ivy League ranking, and three All-Ivy League player selections.
A 2012 graduate of Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Pottish was a four-time All-American for the Eagles. In 2012, he captured the NCAA Division III National Singles Championship, earned ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) National Player of the Year honors, and led Emory to the Division III Team National Championship. Featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd", Pottish was inducted into Emory's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2025.
Pottish went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from Georgia State University in 2015. He launched his collegiate coaching career as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the men's tennis team at Emory from 2013 -15. During his first year on the coaching staff, Pottish helped steer the Eagles to a top-five national finish while managing program recruitment, operations, and administration.
A native of East Quogue, NY, Pottish resides in Glen Head, NY.
