Devin Roban was hired as New York University’s Assistant Athletic Director for Intramurals, Club Sports & Recreation in August 2021.
In his current role, Roban is responsible for the programming of Aquatics, Club Sports, Esports, Group Fitness and Wellness, Intramurals, Personal Training, and Special Events programming within Campus Recreation, all which serve and engage approximately 15,000 students annually.
Roban previously served as NYU’s Intramural Director & Assistant Facilities Supervisor from 2012-18.
Roban returned to NYU after spending three years (2018-21) as the Associate Athletic Director for Recreation & Facilities at Pratt Institute. While there, his many responsibilities included overseeing all aspects of recreation, community memberships, facility operations, student and temporary/part-time employment, budgeting, space rentals, on-campus programming, Cannoneer intercollegiate events, and external department partnerships. Roban also collaborated on capital planning projects and was the sport administrator for Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Track & Field, and Men's and Women's Cross Country teams. He also served on various campus-wide initiatives, including first-generation student focus, support of Veteran student success, campus review of improving studio culture, and student-wellness initiatives.
Roban earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Studies in Business Management with a specialization in Sport Management from Cazenovia College in 2007. As a student-athlete, he played four years on the Wildcats’ baseball team and was a four-year captain of the Debate Team. He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science from Brooklyn College in 2010 and a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from NYU in 2018
Roban, who received the NYU Student Affairs Hallmark Award in 2017, is also an active member of the National Intramural-Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA). In 2018, he co-presented at the NIRSA National Conference on inclusive and innovative programming for institutions with varied limitations.
Prior to his first stint at NYU, Roban worked as Public Programs Coordinator for the Hudson River Park Trust from 2010-12. His major responsibilities included managing sports fields and facilities, overseeing, recruiting and supervising seasonal recreation staff, coordinating all recreational events, festivals, film and commercial shoots, concerts, and the handling of supplies, uniforms and recreational equipment.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Roban resides in Wayne, NJ.
