Olivia Lanthrop

Olivia Lathrop

Olivia Lanthrop was hired as a volunteer assistant coach of the New York University women’s volleyball team in September 2024.

The Violets posted a 22-13 record in 2024 and qualified for the postseason, securing an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and advancing to the second round. The season ended with a 3-1 loss to MIT after a 3-1 win over William Smith College in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Individually, Grace Nelson, Taylor Odum and Yooni Park were all named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-American, while freshman Chloe Hines was selected University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year. Nelson was also a First Team All-UAA honoree.

Lanthrop arrived at NYU with a plethora of experience. A former assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division I Dartmouth College, she was responsible for training the middle blockers as well as being the point person for recruits and recruiting coordinators.

Lanthrop’s first assistant job came when she was at DeSales University from 2016-18, serving as a Graduate Assistant. While there, she navigated a team of 17 women through team building and maintaining cohesiveness through competition, spearheaded recruiting efforts for the program and successfully coordinated all fundraising events.

A summa cum laude graduate of Western New England University in 2016, Lanthrop earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. A two-year member of the Golden Bears’ volleyball team, she played in 59 matches, registering 552 kills, 110 blocks, and a .292 hitting percentage. In her first year on the team, she finished top-10 in single-season kills with 300. She was a two-time All-Conference selection and gained All-Region honors in 2014.

Lanthrop, who began her collegiate volleyball career at Division II Southern Connecticut State University, went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration from DeSales in 2018.

A native of Farmington, CT and a New York City resident, Lanthrop also currently works for The SR Group as a Senior Recruiter on their finance and accounting team. She also coaches at the club level for NYC Juniors volleyball.
