Will Ingersoll

Will Ingersoll has served one season as an assistant coach of the New York University women’s basketball team. He mainly assists Head Coach Meg Barber in scouting and player development.

In his first season with the Violets, Ingersoll helped lead the Violets to a 17-10 overall record, a 6-8 mark in the ultra-competitive University Athletic Association (UAA) and to the postseason Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship. The season included a five-game winning streak and ended on a four-game winning streak which culminated in an 82-74 victory over host Cabrini University in the ECAC Championship Game.    

Several players flourished during Ingersoll’s first season at NYU. Sophomore Janean Cuffee, who was selected the ECAC Championship Most Valuable Player, was a First Team All-Metropolitan and D3hoops.com Second Team All-East Region honoree. She was also named First Team All-UAA, while fellow sophomore Katie Foos received Honorable Mention All-UAA.

Ingersoll brought over nine years of coaching experience to his new position at NYU. His most recent job was as an assistant coach with the Columbia University women’s basketball team for the 2016-17 season, where he focused primarily on team development and recruiting. As part of a new staff, Ingersoll helped lead the program to their most wins since 2010 as well as a 50-spot increase in the RPI rankings.

Prior to his work at Columbia, Ingersoll was an assistant coach for the Division I Sacred Heart University women’s basketball program from 2013-16. Over those three years, he served as recruiting coordinator and helped put together the roster that went on to win the 2016 Northeast Conference (NEC) regular-season championship. 

A 2008 graduate of The College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance, Ingersoll went on to earn his Master of Business Administration in marketing degree from the university in 2010. During his master studies from 2008-10, Ingersoll joined the athletic department as the director of basketball operations for the school and then served as an assistant coach with the women’s basketball team from 2010-13.

Ingersoll is a native of Denver, CO, and resident of Stratford, CT.
