Alison Meagher

Alison Meagher

Alison Meagher joined the New York University softball team’s staff as an assistant coach in September 2019. Her primary roles include working with the outfielders and hitters, as well as in the areas of recruiting and academics.

The 2021 season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, seven team members received University Athletic Association (UAA) Spring Sport All-Academic honors.

In her first season on staff, the Violets compiled a 3-5 record, including a 4-0 shutout of Rutgers-Newark University on March 10 in the final game of the season. The 2020 season was cut short due to Covid-19.

Despite the abbreviated season, several players received accolades. Morgan Clemens (outfield) and Caroline Saccacio (catcher), as well as Rachel Colbus (infield), Kalena Paredes (infield) and Maggie Swan (Swan) earned All-UAA honors. In addition, 11 players were selected UAA Spring Sport All-Academic.

Meagher, who graduated from the College of Staten Island in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, was a three-year member of the Dolphins’ softball team. She earned First Team All-CUNY (City University of New York) Conference honors as a junior and senior. Also during her final campaign, Meagher served as a captain and was named the team’s Pitcher of the Year.

Meagher also attended NCAA Division I Rider University and was a member of the softball team during the 2012-13 academic year.

Meagher has extensive coaching experience, primarily with youth programs in New Jersey. Most recently, she served as head coach for the 14-and-under NJ Insanity Travel Team and now is coaching at Untamed Softball. Meagher also led Benedictine Academy High School (Elizabeth, NJ) to its first-ever state sectional title as head coach in 2016 and was named Union County Coach of the Year by NJ.com.

A native and resident of Clark, NJ, Meagher also continues to work as a softball instructor at several sports academies and training centers in New Jersey.
