Adam Parmenter, now in his third season as an assistant coach with the New York University men’s basketball team, assists in all aspects of the daily operations of the program. The Violets have compiled a 28-24 record over his first two seasons.

In 2016-17, NYU posted a 7-18 overall record and a 2-12 mark in the ultra-competitive University Athletic Association (UAA) with a roster that included nine freshmen.

The lone junior on the squad, captain Ross Udine, scored his 1,000 career point in the final game of the season against Brandeis. He earned a bevy of accolades, including Second Team All-UAA, Second Team All-Met, MVP of the Rose City Classic, and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Player of the Week Honorable Mention (twice). Jimmy Martinelli was named UAA Rookie of the Year and received DIII News All-Freshman Team honors, while the team’s lone senior, captain Joe Timmes, garnered Honorable Mention All-UAA accolades and MBWA Player of the Week Honorable Mention.

The Violets were successful academically as well, with Timmes being named CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team while also receiving NYU’s Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award. Both he and sophomore Douglas Gertner earned UAA Winter Sport All-Academic.

For the 2015-16 season, the Violets posted a 21-6 record with a 9-5 (third place) mark in the UAA. NYU received a postseason berth for the 10th-consecutive season and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Parmenter joined the Violets with a lengthy basketball resume, working most recently as the Head Coach at NCAA Division II Mercy College from 2010-14. He also served as the Associate Director of Alumni Relations during that four-year span.

Parmenter first arrived at the Dobbs Ferry, NY, campus as an assistant coach prior to the 2008-09 season and was elevated to Associate Head Coach for the 2009-10 season.

Prior to his stint with Mercy, Parmenter spent time as the Director of Development at Five-Star Basketball, Inc. Before that, he served as the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach and Head Junior Varsity Basketball Coach at Fordham Prep. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Daniel Webster College.

Parmenter, who graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2002 and earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Mercy in 2016, also currently works as a financial analyst at ShoreTel.

A native of New Ipswich, NH, Parmenter resides in Ringwood, NJ, with his wife Erika and their daughters Zoe and Divya.
