That afternoon NYU Athletics also celebrated a special anniversary. The spring of 2010 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1959-60 NYU Basketball’s historical season, and advancement to the NCAA Division I Final Four. Nine team members Al Barden ’61, Robert Bigelow ’61, Russ Cunningham ’60, William McBain ’62, Bernie Mlodinoff ’60, Ray Paprocky ’62, Robert Regan ’60, Jim Reiss ’61 and Tom ‘Satch’ Sanders ’60 were present. In addition, Ron Rossini attended in honor of his late father, Lou Rossini, the Hall of Fame head coach.
Following the ceremony alumni reunited among the family and friends of the honorees during the reception.
The current Hall of Fame was established as a result of the merger of NYU Varsity Club Hall of Fame, founded in 1970 to honor members of the men's teams, and the Women's Hall of Fame, founded in 1976 by a group of former female student-athletes. The NYU Hall of Fame currently includes 184 distinguished members, spanning more than 100 years of rich athletic history.
