The 2009 New Paltz women’s volleyball team won its first SUNYAC Championship with straight set victories over Brockport in the semifinal round and Cortland in the championship. The Hawks also defeated Williams College for the first time in school history this season.

Head coach Matt Giufre was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year and senior middle hitter Brittany Coyle was named SUNYAC Player of the Year. Seniors Alison Kiernan and Stephanie Bova each earned First Team All-SUNYAC recognition, while senior Priska Wilson and sophomore Melinda DiGiovanna were named Second Team All-SUNYAC.  Coyle earned Tournament MVP in the conference tournament and Alison Kiernan and Stephanie Bova were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

The Hawks were crowned tournament champions four times this season.  Senior Brittany Coyle leads the team in kills (318), hitting percentage (.330) and blocks (113).  Senior setter Stephanie Bova leads the team in assists (1049) and senior Alison Kiernan is second in kills (267) and hitting percentage (.302).  The Hawks are riding a 22-game winning streak and have won 30 of their last 31 overall.
