With one of the youngest teams ever in Christopher Newport volleyball history, the Captains have equaled the accomplishments of all teams that came before, and earned their seventh NCAA bid in the last nine years.
A team with no seniors, three juniors, two sophomores, and nine freshmen won the USA South Athletic Conference championship for the third straight year and compiled the same regular season record as the previous two, 33-6.
Junior Caitlyn Jansen was voted conference Player of the Year and was MVP of the league tournament. She leads CNU with 375 kills and a .360 attack percentage. Freshman Kara Elder was the USA South Rookie of the Year and a first team all-conference selection. She has 353 kills and 340 digs. Freshmen Cory Harris and Bailey Jensen were both second team all-conference choices and rank third and fourth in kills with 296 and 290 respectively, while sophomore setter Jessie Heavenrich was also second team all-conference and has 786 assists. Freshman libero Abby Hogge leads CNU in digs with 489.
CNU head coach Lindsay Birch was named conference Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her eight years on the bench.
