The New York University men's basketball team's 2025-26 season came to an end with an 84-69 loss to Wesleyan University on Saturday, March 7, in Middletown, CT.
The first half featured six lead changes and four ties. The Violets led by as many as five points and the Cardinals were ahead by as many as four.
Luke Kolaja's jumper with 4:19 remaining created the game's final tie at 32-32, and Wesleyan went on to lead 39-36 at halftime.
The Cardinals scored the first six points of the second half to widen the gap.
Another Kolaja bucket with 14:34 remaining in the game pulled the Violets within 50-49, but Wesleyan followed with the next eight points.
NYU never got closer than six the rest of the way.
Darren Rubin concluded his collegiate career with a team-high 20 points for the Violets. Kolaja, also playing in his last collegiate contest, finished with 19 points, while both
Bryan Moussako and
Carnegie Johnson scored 10.
Moussako also grabbed a team-high six rebounds, with Johnson contributing a team-best six assists.
