The New York University men's basketball team dropped a 91-79 decision to #6-ranked University of Chicago in a University Athletic Association (UAA) game on Sunday, February 22, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
In a tight first half, the Violets led by as many as six points and by a score of 41-39 at the break.
NYU took its biggest lead of the game, 48-41, early in the second half on
Carnegie Johnson's layup.
But, the Maroons went on a 9-0 to grab the lead for good.
Chicago increased its advantage to 17 points, 81-64. with just over five minutes left in the game.
NYU followed with a 7-0 run, and then Johnson's three-pointer cut the deficit to 83-74 with 2:55 remaining.
The Violets inched within seven, 86-79, on
Luke Kolaja's three-pointer with 1:40 left, but got no closer.
Kolaja led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Johnson and
Darren Rubin each had 16, with
Quinn Clark adding 14.
Kolaja also had a team-high six rebounds, with Rubin contributing a team-best six assists.
The Violets will play their final game of the 2025-26 regular season when they host Brandeis University on Saturday, February 28, at the Paulson Center. Tip-off for the Senior Day game is scheduled for 1:00pm.
