Men's Volleyball Sweeps Ramapo

Violets Record First Three-Set Win of the Season

The #6-ranked New York University men's volleyball team improved to 8-2 on the season with a sweep of Ramapo College on Thursday, February 12, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.

The Violets won convincingly in each set by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-15.

Leading 8-7 in the opening frame, NYU used an 8-1 run to open up an eight-point advantage. With the Roadrunners unable to win back-to-back points for the remainder of the set, the Violets continued to push the pace.

Up 24-15, Artyom Derkach delivered the set-winning kill for NYU.

Despite Ramapo getting out to a 6-3 edge in the second, the Violets evened the score by winning the next three points. Later down 13-11, NYU scored three straight points to take its first lead of the set.

The Violets then managed to grow their lead to 23-16 thanks to an 8-1 run. Up 24-19, BoJameson Ebeling put down a kill to give NYU a 2-0 advantage.

The opening stages of the third frame were back-and-forth with the score tied 9-9. However, the Violets managed to distance themselves with an 11-2 run.

A Ramapo service error proved to be the match-winning point, as NYU completed its first sweep of the season.

A match in which the freshmen shined, Ebeling tallied 14 kills on an efficient .737 hitting. The offense was operated by Krish Vasan, who dished out 32 assists.

The Violets will next take on St. John Fisher University in their United Volleyball Conference (UVC) opener on Saturday, February 14, at the Paulson Center.
