The
#5 ranked New York University men's cross country team had four runners compete in the Rowan Border Battle hosted by Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, on Saturday, October 17.
Competing on an 8k course, the Violets concluded the race with all runners finishing among the top 57 (9th, 34th, 43rd, and 57th).
The team did not score due to only having four athletes in the meet.
The University of Mount Union won the race with 70 points.
"It was an incredibly gritty race today in muddy and sloppy conditions," said Associate Head Coach
Nic Jacobsen. "It was true cross country."
Junior
Jordan Levy was first for the team, finishing ninth with a time of 27:28.7. He was followed by freshman
Caden Gueci at 34th, completing his third race for the team with a personal-best time of 28:13.3. Sophomore
Daniel Escribano, with a time of 28:25.5, placed 43rd, and junior
Jacob Christy (28:45.9) was 57th.
"It was a good opportunity for some of our depth to get a chance to compete in a big field," Jacobsen added. "
Jordan Levy had a very strong race for us up front."
Overall, 22 teams and 174 athletes competed in the race.
Up next, the team is headed to the UAA Championship, hosted by the University of Chicago in Warrenville, IL. The event is set to take place on Saturday, October 31.
