The New York University wrestling team hosted the UAA Challenge on Saturday, January 3, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
The #20-ranked Violets won all three of their matches and are a perfect 7-0 in duals this season.
Returning to the mat for the first time since December 6, NYU defeated Johns Hopkins University 45-6, Centenary University 25-14, and Gettysburg College 33-10.
"We wrestled very well today," said NYU Head Coach
Bruce Haberli. "I'm not surprised because we have a very good team."
Several Violets won all of their matches on Saturday.
At 165,
Nicky Bell recorded a fall, a tech fall and a decision.
Ty Finn posted a fall and a tech fall at 174, and added another fall at 184.
At 184,
Justin Mayes had two falls and a major decision.
At 133,
Jacob Venezia recorded a fall and a decision victory in his two matches.
James Carlock was a also a double-winner, earning a tech fall and a major decision in his two matches.
At heavyweight,
Nathan Faxon was victorious in his two matches with a fall and a decision.
"While I would still like to see improvement from some of our guys, I know that when we see it we can compete with anyone," Haberli added.
The Violets return to the mat when they compete at the NWCA National Duals on Friday and Saturday, January 9-10, as well as at the Mariner Duals hosted by the U.S. Merchant Martine Academy on Saturday the 10th.
