The New York University women's basketball team completed its second consecutive undefeated regular season with an 89-58 win over Brandeis University on Saturday, March 1, in Waltham, MA.
The nation's top-ranked team heads into the postseason with a perfect 25-0 record, 14-0 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
Brandeis (12-13, 5-9) scored the first bucket of the game, but the Violets then went on an 8-0 run and held the lead the rest of the way.
NYU led 24-13 after the first quarter and 45-29 at halftime.
The lead grew to 70-42 after three quarters.
Caroline Peper was the Violets' high scorer, finishing with 21 points.
Natalie Bruns posted a near triple-double with 17 points, seven rebounds and a career-high 10 assists while adding two blocks and two steals.
Jamie Behar scored 16 points, while
Brooke Batchelor finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
NYU shot 53.7 percent (36-of-67) from the field and 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from three-point range.
The Violets will begin postseason play next weekend. The location, time and opponent will be revealed on the NCAA Selection Show on Monday at 2:30pm.
