In a ranked match-up against #19 Stevens Institute of Technology, the New York University wrestling team defeated the Ducks 25-18 on Friday, January 31, in Hoboken, NJ.
The
#20-ranked Violets won the first three bouts of the night, including a pin by
Jacob Venezia in the 133-pound weight class.
Cooper Pontelandolfo won by decision in the 157-pound class to remain undefeated on the season.
NYU then lost each bout from the 165 through 197 as the score reached 21-18 heading into the heavyweight class.
However,
Evan Anderson stopped the bleeding and clinched the dual for the Violets with a major decision.
It was the second ranked win for NYU in the 2024-25 campaign.
The Violets will remain on the road for the NY/New England Duals, hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, on Saturday, February 8, in New London, CT.
