Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Violets Return to New York with Three Wins

Men's Volleyball Validates #2 Ranking in Pennsylvania

On Saturday, February 1, the #2 New York University men's volleyball team wrapped up its road trip to Pennsylvania with wins over host Misericordia University (9-6) and Nichols College (3-7) in Dallas, PA.

The Violets (10-0) return to New York with three wins, two of them ranked (#12 Messiah University and #20 Misericordia University).

After completing their postponed match against Messiah University in the morning, NYU faced Misericordia. The Violets won in straight sets (25-16, 25-23, 25-22).

Devyn Nguyen skillfully distributed the ball to the attackers recording 32 assists. Lucas Osiecki, Luke Boyer, and Emerson Evans each posted eight kills. Blocking was strong as Ry Kagan posted three blocks against the Cougars and Nguyen, firing on all cylinders, recorded two. Zach Knudsen was crucial on defense with 10 digs.

In their final match of the day, the Violets took care of business defeating Nichols in straight sets, 25-14, 25-20, 25-21.

Osiecki led the team on offense once again posting 14 kills and Kagan had 10 while hitting at an impressive .750 clip. Evans and Knudsen held down the back row with nine and six digs, respectively. Osiecki and Evans were aggressive from the service line with two aces a piece.

"Once again, we were excellent at receiving serves and headstrong while attacking these matches," said Head Coach José Piña. "Zach Knudsen was outstanding defensively, and Lucas Osiecki was strong on the hitting side, leading the team in kills for both matches. This was a very good weekend for the young men."

NYU will return to the court on Thursday, February 6, in Mahwah, NJ, where they will play Ramapo College at 7pm.
