The New York University wrestling team was dominant on Saturday, winning al three of its matches by overwhelming numbers as the Violets competed at the OAC (Ohio Athletic Conference) vs. UAA (University Athletic Conference) Duals hosted by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
NYU easily defeated Heidelberg University (48-6), University of Mount Union (37-6), and Ohio Northern University (36-6) in raising its record in dual meets to an unblemished 8-0 this season.
The
#14-ranked Violets were led by several outstanding individual performances.
All-American
Cooper Pontelandolfo (157) won all three of his bouts by technical fall.
Benny Bautista (125) was also a triple-winner, posting victories by technical fall, major decision and decision. Not to be outdone,
Jason Geyer (174) also went 3-0, producing a fall, a technical fall and a decision, while
Evan Anderson (285) did likewise by pinning two of his opponents and also recording a victory by decision.
"We won 26 of 30 matches against some tough Ohio teams," said Associate Head Coach
Corey Luce. "I'm really proud of today's performance."
A plethora of Violets also posted 2-0 records on the day:

Trent Furman (184),
Vincenzo Napolitana (149),
Hassan Khan (165), and
Jack Reusing (165).
"This was a great way to start the second half of the season," Luce added. "We need to keep moving in this direction."
The wrestlers will be back in action when they compete at the USMMA Duals on Saturday, January 13, in Kings Point, NY.
