The t
op-ranked New York University women's basketball team remained undefeated with a convincing 74-41 University Athletic Association (UAA) win over #15 Emory University on Sunday, January 28, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
There was no drama in the contest, as NYU (18-0, 7-0) raced out to a 7-0 lead, was soon ahead 19-2, and led 23-4 after the first quarter.
The lead ballooned to 41-14 at halftime.
The Violets increased their advantage to a game-high 36 points, 65-29, midway through the fourth quarter.
Emory (15-3, 5-2) never got closer than 30 the rest of the way.
"Every member of our team works hard every day in practice with a commitment to get better," said Head Coach
Meg Barber. "We just continue to grow, and we're tough to beat when we put 40 minutes together like that."
Natalie Bruns led the Violets in both points (16) and rebounds (13).
Megan Bauman scored 14 points and dished out a game-high seven dimes.
Morgan Morrison added 11 points and six rebounds.
Belle Pellecchia contributed eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and a steal.
Caroline Peper also scored eight points.
The squad is back in action on Friday, February 2, when they face the University of Rochester. Tip-off in Rochester, NY, is set for 5:30pm.
