New York University's men's volleyball team,
ranked #8 in the nation, were defeated by
top-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in four sets on Wednesday, March 8, in Hoboken, NJ.
After dropping the first set 25-13, the Violets rebounded to take the second 25-21. However, Stevens defended their top ranking and their home court by taking the next two sets 25-15 and 25-22.
The loss snapped NYU's three-match winning streak.
Two Violets,
Gautham Dasari (16) and
Luke Boyer (12) finished with double-digit kills. Dasari also led the team with nine digs.
Ryan Li produced a team-high 29 assists.
The Ducks out-hit the Violets .291-.099.
NYU is now 11-5 this season, while Stevens improved to 22-2.
The Violets now take a pause for Spring Break and return to the court on Saturday, March 25, when they host Vassar College at 2:00pm at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility.
