Kyle Rasmussen tied his career high with 10 kills as New York University's
ninth-ranked men's volleyball team swept Penn State-Behrend at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility on Sunday afternoon.
NYU improved to 10-4 on the season and earned their second consecutive sweep as five Violets had five-or-more kills.
Sachin Dasari recorded his third match of the year with 30-plus assists, finishing with a match-high 32.
The Violets opened up a 15-8 lead in the first after a Rasmussen kill, eventually going ahead 21-12 after an ace from
Lucas Osiecki. NYU hit .619 in the opening set and cruised to a 25-15 victory.
New York kept rolling in the second, taking a 17-9 advantage following a Lion service error. The Violets had set point at 24-15 and, despite PSU scoring four straight, took the second 25-19 with
Jack Candido delivering the clinching kill.
The Violets once again went ahead 17-9 in the third after a block from Rasmussen,
Brian Kellogg and
Ry Kagan. NYU committed just two attack errors in the third while limiting the Lions to .129 hitting as the hosts won 25-17 to secure the sweep.
Rasmussen's 10 kills were the match high as he hit .400 and had three block assists.
Gautham Dasari added seven kills, five aces and a match-high-tying 10 digs.
Osiecki finished with nine kills while
Robert Allen had six and
Ry Kagan chipped in five.
Libero
Zach Knudsen had seven digs, three assists and his second kill of the season.
NYU returns to the court on Tuesday night, hosting St. Joseph's-Long Island at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility for a 7:00 p.m. start.
