New York University's wrestling team defeated both Trinity College and Hunter College in a home tri-meet held at the Borough of Manhattan Community College in Manhattan, NY, on Saturday, February 18.
The
#22-ranked Violets easily defeated each opponent, posting a 47-4 victory over Trinity and shutting out Hunter 52-0.
NYU honored six graduating student-athletes in a ceremony following the conclusion of the competitions:
Tyler Crew,
Scott DuPont,
Trent Furman,
Jason Geyer,
Justin Leonard, and
Gabe Rodrigues.
Several NYU wrestlers posted two victories on the mat, with
Benny Bautista recording falls in both matches.
Evan Anderson's two wins included a fall and a decision.
KJ Sherman posted a fall and a major decision, while DuPont's victories came by decision and major decision.
"Great performances by all of our wrestlers today," said Head Coach
Bruce Haberli. "And, it came on a special day for our seniors, who have meant so much to the program."
The Violets, who completed their dual-meet season with a 12-4 record, are back in action tomorrow at the Futures Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.
