Dakota Fordham of the New York University women's tennis team and
Joe Leslie of the men's soccer team were each named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week in their respective sports on Monday, September 12.
Fordham was undefeated as the Violets opened their 2022 fall season. Competing at the Vassar College Scramble in Poughkeepsie, NY, over the weekend, Fordham won all three of her singles matches on Saturday. In doubles, she paired with
Ida Krause for two victories on Saturday and two more on Sunday, finishing 7-0 overall.
Leslie had a pair of goals in NYU's 9-0 shutout of Hunter College on Wednesday. He took seven shots in the contest, with five landing on net. Leslie scored the lone goal in the Violets' 2-1 loss to SUNY New Paltz on Saturday. He currently leads the team with three goals, 16 shots and seven shots on goal.
The soccer team is back in action on Tuesday night, hosting Stevens Institute of Technology at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, while the tennis team will compete at the Lions Invitational in Ewing, NJ, this weekend.
