The New York University Wrestling Team, currently ranked
#13 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, split its two matches on Saturday, February 5, at NYU's Brooklyn Athletic Facility in Brooklyn, NY.
NYU, now 14-3 in dual matches this season, defeated Bridgewater State University (1-7) 39-9 before falling to unbeaten #10 U.S. Coast Guard Academy (4-0) by a score of 40-3.
Three NYU wrestlers produced falls against their Bridgewater opponents, as
Nick Kruczynski (133),
Anthony Chavez (149) and
Trent Furman (157) all pinned their opponents.
Danny Lightfoot (141),
Cooper Pontelandolfo (165) and
Matt Kelly (197) registered tech falls in the match.
It was a different story in the second match as only Furman was able to produce a victory for the home team.
NYU returns to action next Saturday, February 12, when the wrestlers compete at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
