Men's Volleyball Defeated at Vassar

Violets Fall in Straight Sets

The #9-ranked New York University Men's Volleyball Team traveled to Poughkeepsie, NY, on Friday, February 25, and lost in three games to #2 Vassar College in a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) contest.

The Violets (7-5, 3-1) lost a close first set 25-23, dropped the second 25-20, and were beaten in the third 25-14.

NYU erased a five-point deficit in the first, climbing back to a 23-23 tie. But a Vassar kill and an NYU attack error clinched the game for the Brewers (10-1, 4-0).

The Violets never led in the second set.

NYU did get out to an early lead in the final set. But, with the score tied 8-8, Vassar scored the next three points and never relinquished the lead.

NET NOTES:

- James Haag led NYU with 10 kills.

- Tyler Flood added five kills and hit .417.

- Ryan Whealen had a team-high 21 assists.

The Violets return to action on Tuesday, March 1, when they host Rutgers-Newark at 7:00pm at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility.
