The New York University Wrestling Team competed at the Mideast Futures Tournament on Sunday, February 20, at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.
In the squad's final gear-up for the NCAA Northeast Regionals, the Violets finished in 12th place with a total score of 33.
"This was our final opportunity to look at some of our wrestlers who will not be competing at Regionals," explained Head Coach
Bruce Haberli. "Several of them had really strong showings."
NYU's top performer was
Tyler Podolsky who won three matches, including one fall, and advanced to the finals of the 165-pound bracket.
Jonathan Keltz at 133 recorded two wins, including one fall.
At 184,
Declan Skelly posted a 2-1 record, one of the wins by major decision.
Haberli's wrestlers now prepare for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships, where the top finishers will earn bids to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The Regionals are being held Friday-Saturday, February 25-26, at Springfield College in Springfield, MA.
The Nationals are taking place at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, Thursday-Saturday, March 10-12.
