New York University's men's soccer team defeated Wilkes University, 5-0, on Saturday at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
NYU improved to 7-4-2 on the season while Wilkes fell to 7-8-1.
The Violets led 2-0 after first half, out-shooting the visitors 15-2 across the first 45 minutes.
Arkan Tahsildaroglu opened the scoring in the eighth minute, firing an unassisted strike from the top of the box for his seventh of the year.
Joe Leslie made it 2-0 NYU in the 18th, finishing a pass from
Alex Rovirosa-Illa into the bottom right corner of the net.
At the 56:28 mark of the second half,
Bryce Lexow scored on a breakaway for his team-leading eighth tally of the year.
Just 37 seconds later, Tahsildaroglu delivered a cross to
Nathan Bennett who beat the diving keeper and made it 4-0 Violets.
Terra Nagai punctuated the victory with an unassisted goal in the 71st minute, hitting a long-range shot from outside the 18-yard box into the top right corner of the net.
NYU led 27-4 in shots for the match (13-2 in shots on goal), controlling this one from the start.

Tahsildaroglu attempted a match-high nine shots while Bennett had five.
The Violets return to University Athletic Association (UAA) play their next time out, hosting #1 University of Chicago on Friday, October 28, at Gaelic Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
