The
#13-ranked New York University Wrestling Team extended its dual match winning streak to seven with a trio of victories at the John Reese Duals, hosted by Wilkes University, in Wilkes-Barre, PA on Sunday, January 23.
NYU defeated #9 RIT, 33-4, #26 Ithaca College, 26-17, and blanked Penn State-Behrend, 60-0. The team is now 11-1 in duals this season.

Highlights vs. #9 RIT
- Tyler Crew (St. Marys, GA/Camden County) won via fall (125) at the 2:22 mark of his bout against Seth Russo.
- Nick Kruczynski (Natick, MA/Natick) at 133, Anthony Chavez (Fresno, CA/Central East) at 149 and David Aranda (Huntington Beach, CA/St. John Bosco) at 285 all won by major decision.
- Chavez defeated Mike Glynn, 9-0, avenging his early-season loss to Glynn in the championship round of the 149 bracket at the Ned McGinley Invite on November 6.
- Justin Leonard (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) bumped up to 184 and defeated Ben Dougherty, 9-3.
Highlights vs. #26 Ithaca
- Crew topped Matthew Griffin, the #11-ranked wrestler in the nation at 125, 6-0.
- Kruczynski at 133 and Izaake Zuckerman (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) at 174 won via fall.
- Matt Kelly (Katonah, NY/Iona Prep) won by technical fall at 197 and went 3-0 on the day in his collegiate debut for NYU.
- Cooper Pontelandolfo (Marlton, NJ/Kingsway Regional) defeated Jackson Gray (165) as part of a 3-0 day.
Highlights vs. Penn State-Behrend
- NYU won via forfeit at 125, 133, 141 and 165.
- Every other wrestler won via fall against the Lions:
- Chavez: 149 in 1:59
- Trent Furman (Washington Township, NJ/Westwood Regional): 157 in 0:46 (went 3-0 on the day)
- Zuckerman: 174 in 1:15
