The New York University wrestling team was back in action on Saturday, February 1, as the squad took on Stevens in Hoboken, NJ.
NYU, currently ranked #9 in the nation by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), lost to the Duck, who are ranked #15, by a score of 30-13.
The match started with heavyweights, and
Will Ortman (Hopewell Valley, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) was the recipient of a forfeit win as NYU went up 6-0.
However, NYU's grapplers were only able to win two more bout, with
Sean Lyons (Sewell, NJ/St. Joseph's Prep) (157) winning by decision (8-1) and
Izaake Zuckerman (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) (174) producing a major decision victory (14-5).
NYU now has a 2019-20 season dual-meet record of 8-6. Stevens is now 6-5.
NYU is back in action next Saturday, February 8, when the squad travels to New London, CT, for a quad meet hosted by the United States Coach Guard Academy. Bridgewater State University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute will also be part of the competition.
