Official Swimming & Diving Results
The New York University women's swimming & diving team, ranked #6 in the nation by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), fell to #11 Division II West Chester University of Pennsylvania by a score of 168-132 on Saturday, January 18, in West Chester, PA.
NYU swimmers won three individual events in total.
Sydney Catron (Alexandria, VA/Bishop O'Connell) led the way, winning both the 100-yard backstroke (57.38) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.14).
Honore Collins (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) also secured a victory for NYU in the 200-yard individual medley after swimming a 2:08.44, nearly three seconds ahead of second place.
"West Chester's women placed third at the NCAA Division II National Championships last year, so they are legit," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "Sydney had a great meet, posting wins and fast times in both backstroke events."
In the diving events,
Carmen White (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) was NYU's top performer of the day, taking second place in both the one-meter (247.50) and three-meter (267.75) dives.
"We are in the middle of the hardest training time of the year, so to see so many swimmers fare well today is impressive." concluded Miele.
The Violets will be back in action on Friday, January 24, when they travel to Williamstown, MA, to take on host #10 Williams College and #8 Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Williams Tri-Meet.
