The New York University women's volleyball team improved its 2019 record to 4-0 with a four-set victory over Arcadia University on Tuesday, September 3, in Glenside, PA.

After the Knights (2-2) won the first set 25-23, the Violets rebounded to take the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-21.

"After the first set we did a great job of settling down and making key adjustments, both offensively and defensively," said Head Coach Andrew Brown. "We were able to increase our serving toughness as the match wore on."

A pair of Violets, Haley Holz (Palatine, IL /Palatine) (17) and Abby Ausmus (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day School) (10), recorded double-digit kills as NYU out-hit its opponent .255-.089.

Another pair of Violets reached double digits in assists, as both Nicole Dao (Bethesda, MD/The Academy of Holy Cross) (23) and Veronica Johnson (Santa Monica, CA/Santa Monica) (16) successfully set up their teammates. 

The Violets were also proficient at keeping balls alive as four players exceeded double-digits in digs: Jacqueline Kupeli (Danville, CA/Monte Vista) (24), Johnson (15), Holz (13), and Caroline Rapp (Boynton Beach, FL/American Heritage School) (12).  

"We did a terrific job at managing the adjustments and energy Arcadis had in the fourth set in order to close out the match with earned points," Brown added. "I was very impressed with our defense around our front-row blockers."
 
The Violets return to action this weekend when they host three teams on Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7, at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility. NYU will face Stockton University at 8pm on Friday, then play Skidmore College (12pm) and Springfield College (4pm) on Saturday.
