The New York University men's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, April 6, in Lancaster, PA.
NYU was playing in its regular-season finale and will finish the 2019 regular season slate with a 12-10 record, while Lancaster Bible improved to 25-4 with the victory.
"It's disappointing to lose the match, but I thought we played well against a tough team with a number of freshmen in our lineup," said NYU Head Coach
Jose Pina.
The Chargers scored the last four points of the first set to win the frame 25-23, before taking the second set 25-18 and the third 25-20.
Both squads attacked at a similar clip as Lancaster Bible hit .207 and NYU finished the match with a .193 attacking percentage.
Neil Ferraro (11 kills) and
Evan Lindley (10 kills) both recorded double-digit kills to pace the Violets, while
Ryan Whealen dished out a match-best 28 assists.
NYU returns to the court on Friday when it travels to Caldwell University in Caldwell, NJ, for the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Tournament. The Violets are the four seed and will take on fifth-seeded MIT at 5pm in the first round. Tournament host Stevens Tech is the top seed.
"It's time to focus and prepare for the UVC Tournament," concluded Pina.
