The New York University baseball team saw its four-game win streak snapped as it was defeated 6-1 by Rowan University on Friday, March 22, in Winter Haven, FL.
Friday's game was the eighth in as many days for NYU (10-3) and marks the end of the squad's spring break trip in Florida. Rowan, the sixth-ranked team in the most recent
d3baseball.com Poll, improved to 6-3 on the season with the win.
The Violets struck first, scoring an unearned run in the top of the third inning. But, the Profs answered immediately, tying the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Rowan scored twice in the sixth inning to take the lead and added three more insurance runs in the seventh to make the final score 6-1.
Sal Cammisuli started for NYU and took the loss, although he only allowed two earned runs in 5.0 innings.
Francis Prior,
Colman Hendershot and
Coltrane Tait each recorded a hit for the Violets in the loss, while
Gabriel Golob and
John Gassler each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
The Violets will return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 27, when they host SUNY New Paltz. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm at MCU Park in Brooklyn.
