The New York University wrestling team improved to 5-1 with a pair of decisive victories on Friday, January 4.

NYU defeated Kings College (0-9) 58-6 and Muhlenberg College (10-4) 38-6 in dual meet action hosted by The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ.

"We wrestled well today," said Senior Assistant Coach Corey Luce. "We had a lineup that included a bunch of freshmen and they did their job as we won 17 of our 20 bouts."

Five different NYU wrestlers went 2-0 on the afternoon, while seven more picked up one victory.

Zach Alexander (133 pounds) and Jacob Lill (285 pounds) won by forfeit and fall, while Sean Lyons (149 pounds) earned wins via forfeit and technical fall. James Murdoch (165 pounds) won a pair by technical fall and decision and Jack La Corte returned to the lineup with a pair of victories via fall and decision.

"Muhlenberg came in with a solid record and we dominated them with a young lineup," added Luce. "Hopefully we can keep this up moving forward."

NYU returns to the mat next weekend when they travel to Williamsport, PA, for four duals hosted by Penn College of Technology. The squad will compete against McDaniel College, Rhode Island College, New England College, and Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, Jan. 12.
