Men's Volleyball Defeated by North Central

Violets Continue Midwestern Trip Tomorrow at Benedictine

The New York University men's volleyball team was defeated in four sets by North Central College on Friday, January 18, in Naperville, IL.

NYU (0-2) dropped the first two sets to the Cardinals (3-2) 25-16 and 28-26 respectively, but rebounded to win the third frame 25-20, before ultimately falling 25-23 in the fourth set.

"We improved from Tuesday's match, but still made a lot of unforced errors," said Head Coach Jose Pina. "Give credit to our opponent, who played strong at home and made less errors than we did."

The Violets recorded a better attacking percentage (.171) than North Central (.167), but the Cardinals were more dominant defensively, tallying 10 blocks to the Violets' five.

Leading the way for NYU were Evan Lindley and Neil Ferraro, who finished the match with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Lindley also recorded 10 digs, while Ferraro was the squad's leader in blocks with three.

Matin Bikdeli served as the Violets' primary setter on Friday and dished out a match-best 40 assists.

NYU will look to get in the win column on Saturday when they take on Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. First serve is lated for 3pm (Central).
