The New York University men's tennis team was unable to secure the victory on Wednesday, April 11, suffering 6-3 loss to the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.
After Sunday's 6-3 victory over TCNJ, the Violets (3-5) were hoping to take that momentum and run with it, but unfortunately couldn't make it happen against the Ducks (7-8).
"The guys fought hard but came up short ," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "Stevens did a good job of pressuring us and came out with the big points."
The ever reliable duo of
Umberto Setter and
Zeb Zheng (#1) got NYU's lone doubles victory after comfortably defeating their opponents 8-2.
The Violets faired a little better in singles, with Setter (#1) once again dominating his opponent (6-1, 6-2).
Vishal Walia (#4) earned the other victory after a swift 6-0, 6-2 match.
Rahul Das (#2) had a well fought match as well, taking the first set but falling in the tiebreaker in the second and coming up short in the third (1-6, 7-6, 6-4).
"We need to learn from this and move forward," concluded Choy.
The Violets will look to rebound on Saturday, April 14, at 2:00 pm, against the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY.
