The New York University men's swimming team returned to the pool and was defeated by Johns Hopkins University 158-104 on Saturday, November 17, in Baltimore, MD.

The Violets (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season. NYU is currently ranked #7 by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), while the Blue Jays are ranked #3.

Elan Oumarov was a double-winner for the Violets, capturing the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.05) and the 100-yard fly (51.74).

"Elan was aggressive right from the start of both his races and finished strong. He put up two very impressive swims today," said Head Coach Trevor Miele.

Two other NYU swimmers also won events, as Graham Chatoor took the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:41.19) and Justin Lum was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.87). Chatoor also placed second in the 200-yard free (4:39.07). Josh Rine did the same in the 200-yard backstroke (1:57.51), while Nianzhong Liu did likewise in the 100-yard free (47.87).
