The New York University men's soccer team defeated Sarah Lawrence College 5-0 on Tuesday, October 9, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
With the win, NYU improved to 9-2-0 this season, while the Gryphons dropped to 1-11-0 this year.
The Violets scored twice in the first half on goals from
Alexander Dano and
Oliver Kleban just 34 seconds apart.
The score remained 2-0 until the 71st minute when
Maxi Rodriguez made it 3-0.
Sergio Monton and
Robert Shellow added goals in the final 15 minutes to make the final score 5-0.
In addition to his goal, Kleban assisted on Dano and Monton's goals to finish the evening with four points. The freshman now leads the squad with 16 points (six goals, four assists) on the season.
Dano and Shellow each added assists, as well, to finish with three points.
Grant Engel,
Andrew Ashley and
Nick Vafiadis combined for six saves to earn the team's six shutout of the season and third in the last four games.
NYU returns to action on Friday, October 12, when it hosts University Athletic Association foe Emory University. Kickoff is slated for 6:00pm back at Gaelic Park.
