The New York University men's soccer team tied host Washington University in St. Louis 1-1 in University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Sunday, October 28, in St. Louis, MO.
Sunday's draw was the first of the season for NYU (11-4-1, 2-3-1 UAA), while the Bears' overall record now stands 7-6-2 and they are 3-1-2 in UAA play.
WashU opened the scoring in the seventh minute when it drew a penalty kick as an NYU defender committed a hand ball in the box. Kyle Perez converted the penalty kick for his third goal of the season.
The contest remained 1-0 in favor of the hosts until WashU committed a foul just outside of the box in the 84th minute.
Sergio Monton took the free kick was able to tuck it inside the left post for his third goal of the season.
Neither team was able to create any quality scoring chances in the two overtime periods as NYU and WashU played to a tie for the second-straight season.
Grant Engel made four saves for the Violets, while Connor Mathes saved three shots on goal for the Bears.
NYU returns to action on Saturday, November 3, when it hosts Brandeis University in both teams' regular season finale. Kickoff is slated for 11am at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
