Wrestling Taken Down by #17 Stevens

Grapplers Win Four of Eight Contested Bouts

The New York University wrestling team fell to host Stevens Institute of Technology 27-12 on Wednesday, January 31, in Hoboken, NJ.

NYU (11-7) entered the evening as winners in five of its last six dual matches, while the 17th-ranked (National Wrestling Coaches Association poll) Ducks extended their win streak to six and their overall record now stands at 11-3.

Stevens earned forfeit victories at both 125 pounds and 285 pounds to take 12 points before a bout was even contested.

NYU did win four of the eight contested bouts as Evan Drill, Maykel Dolorit, Jackson Kligerman and Jack La Corte each earned victories via decision.

After the Ducks earned decisions at 133 and 141 pounds, Drill got NYU on the board and cut the deficit to 12-3. The grapplers then picked up three-straight wins from Dolorit, Kligerman and La Corte at 174 pounds, 184 pounds and 197 pounds, respectively, before the Ducks earned the final bout of the day via forfeit.

NYU returns to the mat on Saturday when it heads to Worcester, MA, to take on #20 Roger Williams University and host #21 Worcester Polytechnic Institute at 11am and 12:30pm, respectively. WPI will also serve as the host for this year's NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Tournament on February 23 and 24.
