The New York University women's swimming & diving teams traveled to Williamstown, MA, to take on host Williams College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday afternoon, January 19.
NYU (3-3) was defeated in both dual meets, falling to the host Ephs 214-85 and to MIT 155-45.
"We swam against two of the top teams in the nation today and it was great to see the team step up to the challenge," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "We are in the middle of the hardest training cycle of the season, to see them step up and race today was exactly what we were looking for."
Sydney Catron (third place; 2:07.25) and Rebecca Flaherty (fifth place; 2:11.85) each finished in the top five of the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Violets also recorded a pair of top-five finishes in the 500-yard freestyle as
Grace Wakabayashi (5:15.50) and Jamie Robinson (5:18.70) took third and fourth, respectively.
On the diving boards,
Carmen White led NYU with a second-place finish in the one-meter dive (288.70), while Ashlyn King scored 276.70 to place fourth in the three-meter dive.
The Violets will be right back in the pool tomorrow, January 20, when they make the trip to the outskirts of Philadelphia to take on West Chester University. The meet is slated to begin at 2pm.
