Women's Volleyball Falls at Stevens Tech

Violets Return to Action with a Pair of Matches on Saturday

The New York University women's volleyball team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology in three sets on Wednesday, September 20, in Hoboken, NJ.

Stevens Tech moved to 12-2 on the season with the straight-set win, while the Violets fell to 3-10.

NYU scored the first two points of the match, but a quick 7-0 run gave the hosts a five-point lead early in the opening set. The Violets came back to tie the frame at 11 and eventually led by three, 16-13, before an 8-1 run put the Ducks back in front by a comfortable margin en route to a 25-20 first set victory.

The second set was very similar as the teams traded leads throughout. A Stevens Tech attack error put NYU in front 20-19, but the Ducks once again rallied late, winning the second set 25-21 to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Stevens Tech took control of the third set from the beginning, scoring nine of the first 12 points. NYU was never able to get back within four points as the Ducks cruised to a 25-17 third-set win to clinch their 10th consecutive victory.

NOTABLES:

- Zel Fortson finished with double-digit digs (10) and assists (10).

- Rayne Ellis led NYU in kills, recording 11 on the night.
