The New York University men's volleyball team was defeated by Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday, April 8, in Boston, MA.
The Violets (16-9), ranked #9 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), fell to the #7 Leopards in three sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-20).
"It was a tough way to end our regular season," said NYU Head Coach
Jose Pina. "Our opponent played well, specifically their blocking scheme against our left attackers hurt us."
NYU quickly found itself trailing 15-5 in the first set. But, despite cutting the deficit to five, ultimately dropped the set 25-16.
In set two, the Violets were unable to hold onto a 19-18 lead and fell 25-21.
In the third set, NYU came back from 7-2 down to pull within three at 15-12, but a repeat performance of
yesterday's comeback win vs. Endicott was not in the cards, as the Leopards pulled away to win the set 25-20 and the match.
"Now we will work to get ready for the upcoming UVC (United Volleyball Conference) Tournament," added Pina.
