#5 Men's Volleyball Beats Arcadia

Violets Top Knights In Straight Sets

The New York University men's volleyball team defeated Arcadia University on Sunday, March 5, in Glenside, PA.

The Violets (10-6), ranked #5 nationally by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, defeated the Knights (10-13) in straight sets (27-25, 25-17, 25-17).

Despite facing a 24-23 deficit, NYU was able to win a tight, back-and-forth first set 27-25. Leading by two points in the second set, the Violets closed out the set on a 9-3 run to win 25-17. In the third and final set, NYU jumped out to a 15-5 lead and held on for a 25-17 win to complete the sweep of Arcadia.

"It was a team effort today," said Head Coach Jose Pina. "Andrew Zhu and Evan Lindley really stood up."

Head Coach Jose Pina was able to coach despite suffering a painful back injury the night before.

"I probably slept an hour or two last night because of the pain. Today I had to coach standing because I couldn't really sit," explained Pina. "It was just a good bounce back for the team."
