The New York University women's swimming & diving team completed another undefeated dual meet season with a 118.5-71.5 victory over LIU-Post on Friday, January 20, in Brookville, NY.
The Violets (8-0) have now completed their third-straight undefeated season and increased their unbeaten streak to 26 consecutive dual meets.
NYU's last defeat came more than three years ago (January 17, 2014) to Division I Wagner College. The College of New Jersey was the last Division III team to upend NYU...and that was back on November 17, 2012.
"Our senior class hasn't loss since they were freshmen," explained Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "They certainly didn't want to lose today."
The Violets posted seven victories on Friday, six individual events and one relay.
Noel Leung won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.15) and tied for first in the 100-yard freestyle (52.91).
Honore Collins was victorious in the 200-yard IM (2:10.98) and placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (58.91). Those two then combined with
Olivia Kirkpatrick and
Sarah Stone to capture the 400-yard freestyle relay (1:38.77).
NYU's other individual winners were
Elise Gibbs (100-yard breaststroke, 1:07.4),
Kathy Lin (100-yard butterfly, 58.01) and
May Li (100-yard backstroke, 58.44).
"I was pleased with our effort," Miele added. "It was good to get a win."
The Violets return to the pool on Friday and Saturday, February 3-4, when they host the NYU Invitational at the Palladium Athletic Facility Natatorium in Manhattan.
