The New York University women's swimming & diving team defeated Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Johns Hopkins University in a tri-meet on Friday, January 13, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.

The Violets (6-0) defeated the Engineers (6-3) by a score of 185-109 and topped the Blue Jays (4-5) by a 153-103 margin. The Violets have now posted a streak of 24 consecutive dual meet victories.

"We swam so well today against two of the top teams in the country," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "The women kept their win streak alive, and the racing was just great today."

Elise Gibbs celebrated Senior Day by winning all four events in which she competed. She won the 50-yard freestyle (24.25), 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.06), 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.49), and swam the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.93), which also included May Li, Honore Collins and Kathy Lin.

- Noel Leung took first in the 100-yard freestyle (52.61) and in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.11).

- Lin won the 100-yard butterfly (57.48).

"Ashlie had her best meet of the year on Senior Day. I couldn't be happier for her," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "I feel we are exactly where we should be going into the championship part of the season."

The Violets return to action tomorrow when the squad visits Springfield College for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 pm.
